Black Friday gets its name from the shopping frenzy that helps retailers turn a profit on the day.

But Friday was a bad day for the New York Jets (4-7) as they lost the NFL's inaugural Black Friday game at MetLife Stadium to the Miami Dolphins (8-3) 34-13.

Robert Saleh's team, donning their Stealth Black uniforms for the game, is practically out of the running for the playoffs after the defeat. They have dropped their last four games.

Tim Boyle made his Jets debut after Zach Wilson, the quarterback, was benched by Saleh. With two interceptions and a touchdown, Boyle completed 27 of 38 passes. One of the turnovers was a long pass downfield that Jevon Holland recovered for a touchdown that went 99 yards. The play was dubbed the "Hell Mary" online.

After the game, Holland said on the Prime Video broadcast, "I had to get busy, I had to show a little sugar, whatever like that and I just got in the zone." "I had to make it happen because I could smell it and knew it was there once I made that cut."

Despite throwing two interceptions of his own in the first half, Tua Tagovailoa completed 21 of 30 passes for 243 yards and a touchdown. Miami's offense was limited to 10 points in the first half and a field goal on their opening possession of the third quarter by the Jets defense.

Miami encountered a fourth-and-two situation at the Jets' four-yard line on their opening drive. Star receiver Tyreek Hill was being closely guarded by Sauce Gardner when Tagovailoa threw the ball up to him, and it landed on the ground.

From that point on, Miami picked up steam and outscored the Jets 395 yards to their 159.

Regarding Miami's enhanced defense, Holland remarked, "Right now, we're trending upward and we're really enthusiastic about it and excited about it." ".. I believe the main focus is on making each other proud because that is what we want to play for.

Jaylen Waddle and Hill each had games with 100+ receiving yards, with Waddle having 114 yards and Hill having 102 yards and a score.

Next week, Miami will travel to play the Washington Commanders, while the Jets will host the Atlanta Falcons.
