Following the release of security footage from inside the Capitol, Sen. Mike Lee demanded an investigation of the House Jan. 6 Committee, alleging the committee was selectively disregarding evidence.

Lee asked why Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, who he claimed were too preoccupied with leaking Republican text messages they wanted to defeat, did not bring up the tapes that showed police aiding rioters.

"Why did Adam Kinzinger and Liz Cheney never mention any of these tapes?" Lee made a post. (Trend: Biden's Strange Joke Confounds Thanksgiving Guests)

"Perhaps they never searched for them. He persisted, "Perhaps they never even questioned their own narrative."

"Perhaps they were simply too occupied with carefully selecting which Republican text messages to leak in an effort to unseat them."

Speaker of the House Mike Johnson started making available to the public 40,000 hours of security camera footage from the Capitol riots in an effort to increase transparency and let people see what actually happened.

"By making this decision, millions of Americans, criminal defendants, public interest groups, and the media will no longer have to rely solely on the interpretation of a small group of government officials to determine what happened that day," Johnson stated.

More than 400 people have been charged with assaulting police officers, resulting in an estimated $1.5 million worth of damage to the Capitol building, and over 1,100 people have been charged with riot-related offenses.
